Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary Mulliner Bentley's custom coachbuilding unit, has designed a distinctive keycase to mark the 100th anniversary of Bentley. Made of Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it comes with a flying 'B' paperweight, a set keys and a brochure featuring never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images. Function The Bentley Mulsanne Key comes with two buttons: one that opens the trunk, and the second which starts the vehicle. The key also includes a switch to turn on the parking brake. There is a knob that can fold and unfold the mirrors while parking in tight spots. This feature makes it easier to get in and out of your car. Each key takes about two days to create. It is hand cut to shape, sewn sealed and polished to provide the highest-quality finish. It is strong compact and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is akin to the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key, but it feels much heavier and has a luxurious feel. It is also equipped with Secure-A-Key, which helps prevent theft of keys that are keyless. This device is inserted into the remote control fob, and then shuts it off in the event that the key isn't used for a few minutes. It stops thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which will allow the key to be opened and start the vehicle. Bentley estimates that it takes about 500 man-hours to build and put together a Mulsanne. The key to this time-consuming effort is a reluctance to embrace modern tech. Instead of using a machine to space the perfectly-matched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers must park their cars manually, not using sensors built into the vehicle to direct them to perpendicular and parallel spaces. Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization skills with the release of a special Mulsanne W.O. Edition, that pays tribute to founder William Osler Bentley.
